Ruhr-University Bochum, Medizinisches Proteom-Center (Medical Proteome Center)

Brief description

The Medical Proteome Center is one of the leading institutes for proteome and protein analysis. With the help of gel and chromatography-based separation techniques and subsequent mass spectrometry, protein biochips and innovative bioinformatics, questions from all areas of medicine, as well as from basic research are edited. The focus is primarily on clinical issues in the field of neurodegenerative, neuromuscular and infectious diseases as well as cancer. The MPC is involved in numerous national and international projects. E. g. we are a partner in PURE (Protein Research Unit within Europe), which was founded in 2010 at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum with the support of the Ministry for Innovation, Science and Research of North Rhine-Westphalia. Internationally renowned protein researchers from the Ruhr University Bochum and proven clinical researchers are pooling their research activities for the early detection of diseases such as cancer, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis or Alzheimer’s disease.
